IBER25 Conference
The postdoctoral researcher Harry Stroud and the PhD student Ludovica Aisa participated in the IBER25 conference, which took place in Vigo from the 18th to 22nd of July, organised jointly by the Atomic and Molecular Physics Specialised Group (GEFAM) of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics and the Portuguese Society of Physics.
The conference was a thrilling opportunity to learn about the recent chemical and physical novel studies on particles and molecular science.
Harry Stroud presented a talk about his recent progress in research, entitled “Developing an iMD-VR+SMD protocol for sampling complex reaction coordinates defined using interactive molecular dynamics in virtual reality“.
He is developing a method that, from iMD-VR-generated trajectories, extracts a reaction coordinate and applies Steer Molecular Dynamics to obtain free energy profiles.
Ludovica Aisa presented the poster, shown in the picture, for which she received one of the two awards from The Royal Spanish Physics Society (RSEF) for the best poster by a PhD student.
The work presented initial results on studying the kinetic process of the GluHUT macroreceptor and sugar binding, using iMD-VR and Molecular Dynamics techniques.
